Two crews from Halifax wearing breathing apparatus put out a fire at Bankfield Yard, Boothtown, Halifax.

They were called at 12.56 pm (Thur) by a resident in an upstairs flat who smelled smoke.

Firefighters gained entry into a downstairs flat and extinguished the fire.

There was nobody in the flat and the bedroom suffered 50 per cent fire damage and the rest of the flat was heavily smoke-logged.

The cause is still under investigation.
