Firemen sizzle on animal shelter photo shoot

The Red Hot Dates, a group of West Yorkshire firefighters, are supporting the Pennine Animal Welfare Society in their upcoming 2017 calendar.

The kind-hearted eye candy paid a visit to the charity’s Todmorden shelter for a heart-warming photo shoot with their new furry friends.

The new calendar stars are siblings Jade, Dolly and Daisy, who were brought into the rescue centre with their mother when their owners couldn’t cope with the litter. The cute trio have now been living at PAWS for five weeks.

Volunteers and staff also introduced the firemen to puppies and even a ferret.

“They were a bit worried about the ferret, but everything went well! The only problem was that the kittens wouldn’t look the right way,” said Sue Curran from PAWS.

Red Hot Dates calendars have been published for the past 12 years, raising £100,000 for a range of charities, and the annual stunt was the brainchild of Calderdale-based assistant commander Dominic Furby.

This year’s calendar was dedicated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and received orders from Australia and Canada. The 2017 calendar will be interactive for the first time, and purchasers can download a free app which they can use to scan each image and view fire safety information.
