The helpers at the Christians Together Food and Support Drop In were presented with their awards before the Drop In opened its doors on Saturday morning following completion of an Emergency First Aid at Work course.

After a full day of study and practical sessions covering most of the events that are likely to occur, 12 volunteers all passed their final assessment.

The Food & Support Drop In at The New Ebenezer Centre, St James’ Road, Halifax, works with many of the most marginalised and vulnerable people in Calderdale and distributes around 150 food parcels each week.

In addition it also provides practical and pastoral support to many guests as well as signposting people to where additional help may be found and creating a bridge into other services.

The newly trained first aiders will be able help any of the guests at the Food and Support Drop In who may have minor injuries and, of course, will also be there for any volunteer incidents which

may occur.

Rozena Kalita, Francesca Sykes and Emma Smith also got certificates but were unable to be present.
