Five things to know about Calderdale Industrial Museum

1. Calderdale Industrial Museum, Halifax, houses a collection of industrial machinery and artifacts with some pieces being the only surviving examples in the country.

2. Before the museum opened some of the memorabilia was in the neighbouring Piece Hall. A team of around 200 staff took three years to transform the current building into a museum from 1982.

3. The museum has been open since 1987. It closed in 2014 for renovation work and reopened last year. It is run by volunteer group Calderdale Industrial Museum Association.

4. An exhibition on Suffragette Laura Annie Wilson MBE is on display. She encouraged women to work in factories for the war effort as well as building homes for workers.

5. A workshop is on offer to create an original handwoven scarf weaving on Ashford looms. The class will be tutored by Central Saint Martins university trained weaver Anne Crowther.
