Further rain is expected early tomorrow (Wednesday) and while current predictions are that it will not be as significant as previous downpours, the predicted 40mm to 50mm of rain could cause further disruption, particularly in areas of the county which have already experienced flooding.

A Strategic Command Group comprising the emergency services, the Army and the Environment Agency and Local Authority partners, is monitoring the situation and holding regular meetings to share the latest information.

River levels are continuing to recede and most roads across the county have been reopened.

Local Authority partners are now taking the lead on the recovery phase.

Assistant Chief Constable Andy Battle, said: “We hope the worst has passed, but further rain is forecast and we advise people, especially those who have already been affected by the floods, to make sure they keep up to date with the latest weather forecasts and Environment Agency advice.”
