THE funeral of former Calderdale Magistrate and ex-Deputy Mayor, Malcolm Bake, will be held on Monday. Mr Bake was 76 and a Labour councillor for Brighouse from 1980 to 1985.
He was educated at Heath Grammar School, Halifax, and left at 15 to work as an apprentice fitter at John Stirk & Sons, Boothtown.
Mr Bake was member of the Halifax Boys Brigade, a police sergeant, a driving instructor and in 1969 became a quality engineer at Phillips Domestic Appliances, at Lightcliffe.
Later he worked at the Calderdale Careers Office and finally British Car Auctions, in Brighouse, before retiring in 2007.
He also served as a governor at Cliffe Hill and St Andrew’s schools in Brighouse.
He leaves four children and five grandchildren.
His funeral will be at Clifton Methodist Church at 1.15pm followed by cremation at Park Wood, Elland.
