The Friends of Bailiff Bridge Park and Residents group was formed with many familiar faces taking on roles within the new organisation.

Formed by Malcolm Silkstone, the group appointed Brian Mansfield, former worker of the Safer, Cleaner, Greener team for Calderdale Council, as secretary and Tony Price as treasurer.

Mr Silkstone said they held their first meeting at Lightcliffe Cricket Club with representative there from the Three B’s, Brighouse Civic Trust and the British Legion.

“There is a fantastic, experienced team and there was a good rapport with everyone who was at the meeting,” said Mr Silkstone

“We want to carry on the work we have with the police and with Calderdale Council so we can benefit the area.”

Plans are underway for a new feature at the memorial park on Victoria Road to commemorate the centenary anniversary of the First World War.

The group hopes to turn a section of the park into a small poppy garden and cobbled area featuring part of tram tracks that were a feature of the village.
