A family fun day at Manor Heath Park has been postponed after torrential downpours swept through the region on Sunday, leaving the ground waterlogged.
The fun day was due to take place on Sunday, August 23, but will now be rearranged for a later date after fears that the ground will be too wet to support the vehicles needed to set up the fairground rides.
Stewart Robison, of Robinson’s funfairs, said: “It was really disappointing to find the ground was so wet, but totally understandable after the weather on Sunday night.
“The main thing is to keep the park in perfect condition for the people of the town all year round and we simply could not take the risk of making any ruts in the grass.”
Organisers say they still hope to bring the event to Halifax at a future date and have asked anyone with complimentary tickets to hold on to them as they will be honoured when the new date is arranged.
