Fun day for ‘Fax fans and families

Halifax RLFC and sponsors have organised a family fun day aimed at pulling a bumper crowd along to their clash with the Sheffield Eagles.

Anyone who buys a family ticket for the game on Sunday – allowing two adults and four kids in for a half-price cost of £30 at this match only – can go free to the Shay Stadium’s Funzone at 1.30pm.

There will be bouncy castles, face painting and sweets. And co-organisers Ye Olde Oak have said there will be 100 of their hot dogs to give away on the day, first come first serve.

The food company is sponsoring this weekend’s clash on top of their annual package in an aim to boost the crowd.

And after Halifax’s 46-22 win over the London Broncos, club chairman Michael Steele said: “There has never been a better time to introduce new and lapsed supporters to the club with this initiative and to provide the extra push from the 18th man.

“You can feel the confidence returning to the club on and off the field.”

Mark Rose, of Ye Olde Oak added: “In all the years we have been in partnership with Halifax, this is by far the most exciting.

“The standard of the rugby league being played is superb and the buzz around the club is electric.

“All we need now is the residents of this great town to get behind us and help to take Halifax back to glory.

“Hopefully this family fun day will encourage old fans back to the Shay and entice plenty of new ones to give it a try.”

The game kicks off at the stadium in Shaw Hill at 3pm.
