From have-a-go archery and cricket matches to face painting, children’s races, craft stalls, plus music from Todmorden Brass Band, there was something for all the family to enjoy.

The ladies of the Hebden Bridge WI also manned a human fruit machine, face painters created eye-catching designs and kids showed off their creative flair in a mask making competition, which was won by Isla Weir, six, Wren Weir, two, and Louise Moakler, 11.

And as the sun shone on Salem Field, crowds gathered to take in all the day had to offer, including a paint fight and tombola held in aid of the Nepal earthquake relief fund.

Organised by Laurene Lambert, it was the perfect opportunity to get messy in the name of a good cause.

Laurene said: “The day went really well and was very messy, especially when some people aimed for faces with the sponges.

“We raised a total of £218 all in all.”

The money will now be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee.
