Craig Whittaker MP has praised recent news that additional funding will be given to local dentist surgeries.

The additional funding will be given to surgeries that would benefit the surrounding commuities by offering more places for new patients.

Mr Whittaker said: “The additional funding of £877,000 over three years is a real boost for dentistry services in the Calder Valley.

“The funding will allow local surgeries to expand their access to services and this will mean that 2,000 local people who are currently without an NHS dentist will be able to benefit from NHS dentistry services.

“Eight different surgeries across the Calder Valley will now expand their services and take on new patients using this funding.

“I would encourage any local residents who are currently without an NHS dentist to contact my office and I will put them in touch with the nearest surgery to benefit from this additional funding.”

If this initial funding programme is successful and possible funding becomes available, NHS England Yorkshire and Humber may look to extend the scheme to further surgeries in other areas next year.
