A group of FC Halifax Town supporters will walk from The Shay to the home of Altrincham FC on March 20 to raise money for charity and in honour of the club’s former director of business development Debbie Charlton.
As well as raising money for Macmillan cancer support, half of the money raised will go to St Gemma’s Hospice.
John Barker, from AFC Halifax, said: “It is with Debbie’s family’s permission that we are honoured to take up this challenge and raise money for their nominated charity too.
“It is one which was very close to Debbie’s heart and that she also did a lot of fund raising for.
“The distance is 35 miles, and we aim to complete the walk within 12 hours.”
The funeral of Debbie Charlton will take place at 12.30pm today at the Grove Methodist Church, Town Street, Horsforth, in Leeds.
After the funeral, for close family and friends, there will be a commital at Rawdon Crematorium.
Then people can raise a glass to Debbie at Odsal Stadium, home of the Bradford Bulls, in the Coral Stand from 3.30pm.
