Dan Cooper, who helped organise the event, said: “The day was a huge success and we managed to raise £840 towards the defibrillator.

“We were supported throughout the day by Holly Lynch MP, Councillors Hardy and Tagg from Skircoat Ward, the Sowerby Bridge Rotary Club, and of course the 12 acts who gave up their time to play.

“We are continuing to raise money for the defibrillator at the Murgatroyd Arms’ weekly quiz night and are in the process of planning other Skircoat Green fundraising events.”

A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest.

This high energy shock is called defibrillation, and it’s an essential life saving step in the chain of survival.
