Funeral service to raise cash for Macmillan

A FUNERAL care service is holding a fund-raising day to boost the coffers of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Lawrence Funeral Service, Savile Park Road, Halifax, is having an open day next weekend to raise money to help fund the charity’s vital work.

Chris Sykes, of the service, said: “Everyday we hear from our clients about the wonderful support and care given to them by the Macmillan nurses and staff.

“This will be a chance to further support and thank the charity for the care given to our clients at such difficult times.”

Macmillan representatives will be there on the day to chat about the work the charity does. There will also be a raffle with top prizes of a limousine ride and a meal for two at Berties restaurant.

A limousine will also be filled with balloons and visitors can guess the quantity for a chance to win a prize.

The service’s Dignity Charity Organ will play classical and pop music throughout the day and refreshments will be provided.

Mr Sykes added: “We hope people will come and join us and help to raise funds for this very worthy cause.”

The event will be held on Saturday January 14 from 10am to 12.30pm.
