THE funeral takes place on Thursday of a hero soldier and former pupil of Todmorden High School.
Corporal Jack Stanley, 26, died from injuries sustained while on duty in Afghanistan.
He was caught in a blast while on patrol near Lashkar Gah on February 3 and died in a Birmingham hospital on April 8.
His death stunned his many friends in Todmorden and he often socialised at the Jack’s House pub Burnley Road.
Corporal Stanley served with C Company of the Queen’s Royal Hussars.
His funeral takes place at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Littleborough, at 1 pm followed by a service at Rochdale Crematorium, at 3 pm.
Funerals have also been arranged for three Huddersfield soldiers who were among six killed when their Warrior armoured vehicle was blown up on March 6.
The service for Corporal Jake Hartley, 20, takes place at Christ Church, New Mill, at 1.30 pm on Monday; the service for Private Anton Frampton, 20, takes place at Huddersfield Parish Church, on May 2 at noon, and the service for Private Daniel Wilford, 21, will also be held at the parish church on May 4, at 12.30 pm.
