A year-long gas maintence scheme will begin in Halifax Town Centre on Tuesday (August 26).

Furious traders are preparing for a ‘loss of business’ after it was announced earlier this month that Northern Gas Networks will carry out maintenance over a series of phases.

The first phase of the works will start on Market Street and Woolshops from next week for a period of 12 weeks.

The maintenance is part of an ongoing development of infrastructure to replace existing metallic gas mains with durable plastic pipes.

The main road that runs through will remain open and there are no delays expected throughout the works.
