Yorkshire Water is warning homeowners to prepare for a cold winter.
During last winter’s freezing conditions the company dealt with 1,000 customers in Halifax suffering with frozen pipes.
The company also dealt with a record number of bursts dealing with 2,200 instead of the usual 600.
Customers are advised to protect all exposed pipe work, cisterns, tanks, taps and water meters in unheated areas with waterproof foam lagging or insulation.
You should know where the stop tap is located at the property in case it needs to be turned off in an emergency.
They have also advised trying to keep your home warm by keeping central heating on a constant low heat.
