Giant strides for Laura’s Trust

A CHARITY set up in memory of a former Brighouse High School girl will be boosted by a charity walk this weekend.

The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust has been chosen as charity of the year by Super League club Huddersfield Giants.

On Sunday Giants chairman Ken Davy will lead a sponsored walk from Huddersfield to The Shay Stadium before his team’s game against Castleford.

The eight mile long trek will coincide with the first of the three Giants’ “home” games which will be played at The Shay while the pitch at their own ground, The Galpharm Stadium, is replaced.

The Laura Crane Youth Trust is the only UK charity which funds ongoing research specifically into teenagers and young adults.

It was set up following the death of Laura, who lived in Huddersfield, from a rare form of cancer 15 years ago.
