Gifts for all at Christmas pop-up fairs

Festive cheer has stepped up another gear as schools and community groups helped Christmas shoppers find gifts and stocking fillers for loved ones.

Hipperholme Grammar School’s popular annual Christmas Fair saw Father Christmas in his grotto and entertainment was provided by Bradford cheerleaders ‘Panache Cheer’, the Hipperholme Grammar Junior School choir and one of the school’s drama groups.

Jack Williams, headmaster at Hipperholme Grammar School said: “Our Christmas Fair is always very popular, and it provides a fantastic opportunity to find that special person a unique gift, with over 50 local shops and designers selling their products on the day. Stalls run by our pupils also helped raise money for the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice.”

The Friends of Rastrick Library saw an array of local craft stalls present, with some great ideas for Christmas gifts.

Seasonal refreshments were also available at the library in Crowtrees Lane, as well as a children’s craft activity, games and a raffle.

All the profits will go directly back into either improving the disabled access to the library or into further community events.

The group was formally established in 2013 to increase public use of the library facilities and its resources, through events and activities.

There were festive attractions for all the family at Halifax Fire Station with market stalls, children’s entertainment, live prevention shows, a Santa’s grotto and Little Freddie at their Christmas fair.

Donations which were made on the day will now go to the Firefighters Charity and other local charities.
