Gleaming classic marques on display as Calder Holmes Park hosts busy motor weekend

The two-day event, now in its 34th year and organised by the Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge, is often described as one of the best car shows in Britain and it certainly lived up to that accolade.

Saturday was a classic car lovers dream, as gleaming Rolls Royce’s sat beside Bentleys, kit cars as well as military and novely vehicles.

Nearly 300 vehicles were on the showground and the beautiful weather provided a perfect backdrop for the day. Sunday saw a remarkable 415 vehicles on display in Calder Holmes Park, from veteran vehicles, motorcycles, plus commercial, American and military vehicles.

Also represented were long-established motoring clubs inlcuding Sunbeam Talbot Alpine Register, the Side Valves and Jowett cars.

As crowds took in all the weekend had to offer, they could also browse stalls or kick back and relax listening to singer Lucy Barlow and resident jazz band Doctor Jazz.

Passers-by also had to double take as the Trans Pennine Run, coinciding with the vintage weekend, made its way through Calderdale.

Organised by the Historic Commercial Vehicle Society, the run was a fantastic display of hundreds of commercial vehicles.

The event, always held on the first Sunday in August, featured classic vehicles, including fire engines, ambulances and buses.

The 50-mile route took in the scenery of the borough before finishing in Harrogate.
