A charity auction and evening has raised £6,000 for a foundation set up in memory of a former Brighouse football player.
The event at Brighouse Sports and Social Club saw 125 family, friends and supporters of the Ross Smith Foundation come together and raise thousands for the cause.
Dave Kerridge, a trustee of the foundation, said: “It was a massive success where we raised £5,500 - taking the charity fund to over £20,000.
On behalf of myself and the other trustees Jayne Smith, Matthew Smith and Karl Rutter, we would like to say a very big thank you to all the sponsors/donators and volunteers as well as the supporters who attended the dinner and gave generously on the evening.
“A special mention must go to Simply Flowers who donated the flower table decorations again this year.
The charity was formed by family and friends of Ross, a popular Brighouse and Clifton football player who died aged 27 from an aggressive form of cancer.
He went on to play for Huddersfield Town Academy, Halifax Town Academy, Brighouse Juniors, Bradford Park Avenue, Shelf United and Brighouse Town.
He then progressed to Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina for four years. For more details visit www.therosssmithfoundation.com
