Golf day tees up grand total for charity

The annual golfing tournament saw each of the 35 teams greeted with champagne, food and beverages on the course supported by Sous Le Nez, Berties, BM Howarth Ltd, Taylors Butchers, Vine, and the Moorlands Inn.

The mist lifted and the sun shone all day for the lucky golfers, with the winning team being Yorkshire Bank PLC for the second year running.

BM Howarth came in second and Andy Thornton’s placed third.

The event has now become a regular on the Calderdale’s NSPCC fundraising calendar, now in its 14th year of support for the NSPCC, as ChildLine elebrates 30 years of listening to children.

Helen Verity, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said: “I would like to thank everyone involved in the tournament for their ongoing support of the NSPCC – West End Golf Club, all the teams who participated, the sponsors-Wilby Limited, all the generous companies who helped support the event, and our amazing volunteers- we really couldn’t do it without you.

“The sun shone for us all day and everyone had a fantastic time supporting our local children.”

The NSPCC are looking to work with local companies to support its ChildLine service in its 30th year; fundraising to help support the recruitment and training of new ChildLine counsellors and the first 100 calls they answer.
