Good Times: Cliffe Hall Club is still alive and kicking
I have had a long time member and committeeman on the phone to say the Cliffe Hall Club is alive and kicking and not closing.
He said: “Like many other licensed premises in the area, the Cliffe Hall Club is going through financial difficulties and the committee is working hard to keep the place going but it doesn’t help matters when, wherever I go, I speak to people who tell me that the club has closed.
“I was told by some friends a few weeks back that it was a pity the club had closed whilst I was away for the winter at my place in Spain.
“This same story has been repeated many times since and then someone told me it again on Tuesday - it had come to him while he was sat having his hair cut.
“No wonder we struggle for customers if half of Brighouse thinks we are closed. One further story I heard was that not only had the club closed but it had been sold and the members had received a payout of £700 each.
“We have a summer snooker competition ongoing along with a darts and dominoes team that play each week.
“We are looking forward to once again having six teams in the Brighouse and District Snooker League during the forthcoming autumn but it is essential that people support the club to keep it going.”
