GOOD TIMES: New caterers join sports club

The Brighouse Sports and Social Club are proud to announce the launch of a new catering team at their function room at Russell Way. AD Catering Services, led by Adele Daniels and Rob Newbould, took over the catering franchise in August and are already receiving some excellent reviews.

To coincide with the news the function room, which can seat 150 and has a late licence to 1am, has been re-branded The Party Venue at Russell Way.

The venue can cater for all types of events from weddings, parties, christenings, sportsman’s dinners, charity and corporate events and funeral wakes.

The last few months of 2015 are very busy starting on October 23, with Never Too Late an excellent 60s/70s cover band with non- members welcome.

Tickets are £8 including a hot supper provided by Adele and her team.

On bonfire night itself the club will host their annual bonfire and fireworks extravaganza. This will be tickets in advance only due to its popularity and more details will appear in due course.

On Saturday November 28 the popular soul duo Ultimate Voices will be returning for what promises to be another sold out evening after their previous gig in February.

On New Year’s Eve top party band The Void will be appearing.

Adele reports that there are still dates available in December for office Xmas parties. Subject to demand Adele can put on an evening where the room can be shared between smaller firms to fill the function room. For details please ring Adele on 07432156335.

This Friday evening at the Rastrick Bowling & Social Club, It’s All About Olly!

There will be an Olly Murs tribute night from 8pm. James McCann is performing for free and the Bowling Club concert room has also been donated for free so all proceeds are going to the Woodhouse Lane Play Area.

There is already funding for goalposts and a community garden, they are now raising funds for new play equipment.

Tonight (Thursday) the jam session at The Barge is with the Psychoslinkys, on Friday night the International Party Doctors will be in stage, followed on Saturday evening with Supercell.

The live music is wrapped up on Sunday with Mad Jack and the Hatters.

On Friday night at Jeremy’s they have Luke Michael, on Saturday Bootylicious will be on stage from 9pm and on Sunday from 4pm they have the acoustic set with Georgia Farrar.

Former Greyhound landlord and Brighouse personality Greg Wright is hosting one of his notorious charity quiz nights at the Cowcliffe Liberal Bowling Club.

The date for your diary is October 23, and they are raising funds for the Nepal earthquake disaster after some club members have been involved.

“The sanitation system is non-existent and we have been told it costs £150 to build a toilet, so that is our aim,” said Greg.

It will be £1 per person to enter which includes a supper, there is a 20 pence fine per wrong answer and a round of drinks for the winners.

There are also spot prizes.

“We always have a good laugh and the nights are always well attended but everyone is welcome and also if anyone wants to donate money or a prize the club will gratefully accept,” added Greg.
