Rotary member Judy Armitage said: “We donated £300 to Jasmin following her request for help but we then suggested running an event and giving her all the proceeds.

The Rotary Club of Brighouse has a dedicated Youth Opportunities Committee and particularly like to help young people within the local community.

“Jasmin wrote a lovely letter requesting help to fund her trip and was happy to help Rotary raise the money.”

The event was a Grease Sing-a-long, to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the film’s release, and took place at Christ Church Centre in Hipperholme.

Jasmin, who is a student at Brighouse High School, served as host during the evening as those who attended sang along to all of the memorable hits from the film.

The event raised £700, bringing the Rotary Club’s total to £1,000 which will all go towards funding Jasmin’s exciting trip.

Judy said: “She did a fantastic job waitressing the event and Tesco very kindly donated some of the food.
