It may appear at first a little odd that a group of 30 Moldovan business people arrived on Saturday in Brighouse, on a weeklong fact finding mission.

The answer is that they are on a trip organised by the European Cultural Foundation on behalf of the Intercultural Cities programme of the Council of Europe to find out how business can be built without state help.

They were given a tour of the town by members of Brighouse Business Intiative.

Steven Lord who runs the Harrison Lord Gallery in Brighouse introduced them to fish and chips! “I thought” he commented, “that the Moldovans should taste of the great Yorkshire delicacy and they loved it.”
