Concerned residents have expressed worrying concerns over moorland fires in Mytholmroyd.
Firefighters attended the fires at 12.50pm, today, at Cragg Vale, Mytholmroyd.
Michael Foster, of Pye Nest, Halifax, called the Courier - speaking earlier he said: “There’s massive flames, it looks like a huge volcano - it’s quite spectacular.”
Firecrews from across the region have been called to assist in controlling the moorland inferno.
From her twitter account @VictoriaJ76 Vicki tweeted the Courier: “Worringly huge fire on moors above Ripponden, smoke travelling miles. Hope it’s under control soon.”
Mitch tweeted from @Briggus_mitch: “Huge amounts of smoke rising from the Mytholmroyd moors fire clearly visible from the top of Clifton.”
West Yorkshire police helicopter, NPAS Carr Gate, tweeted: “Looking South East on Soyland Moor. Please take care when on the moors, fires can start so easily.”
Eight fire engines are still at the scene tacking the blaze.
