The market usually closes on Sundays and traders are planning a series of events to entice visitors through its doors.

“Everyone at Halifax Borough Market is excited to welcome the Tour de Yorkshire to the town and we’ll be open from 8.30am on the Sunday so that everyone attending the event can take advantage of what we have to offer.

“Our traders will be getting into the spirit of the race, with some decorating stalls and displaying bunting. There will also be plenty of fun for all the family, with free face painting in the market for those who want to show their love for the tour!

“As always, you’ll be sure of a friendly welcome at any of our markets over race weekend, and we hope people who may be visiting for the first time will come back again and again.”
