Halifax businessman dies, aged 62

The head of a family scrap metal firm has died from heart disease.

Peter Tallis was recently put on the heart transplant list but passed away on January 16.

He was born in Halifax and his late wife Daphne died 21 years ago.

He remarried Deborah and they ran Woodlesford Newsagents, Mount Tabor, for 10 years.

Mr Tallis had also been involved in the metal business for many years.

Peter Tallis Halifax Metals operates from a purpose built recycling plant at Shay Lane, Holmfield, dealing in scrap and a waste disposal service.

He enjoyed property renovation and holidays.

“Everybody liked him and he would do anything for anybody,” said Deborah.

He also leaves sons Simon and Jason, and step-sons Jamie and Adam.

His funeral takes place at 2 pm on Friday (Feb 1) at Halifax Minster.
