The Food Assembly is a French organisation and a new CEO has decided to close the entire food assembly system in the UK she said.

“We had fun celebrating our second birthday with tasters, a hamper and a cake last Wednesday but the event was tinged with sadness.

“Our last collection will be on Wednesday, July 25 so our customers will have till the end of the month to stock up on all their favourite local goodies, many of which are created fresh for the weekly collection.

Carol added: “I'd like to say a huge thank-you to all our producers for their continued support over the last two years, especially as we were the first in Yorkshire and only one for the first 18 months, and one of the most successful food assemblies in the country.

“I'd also like to say a massive thank-you to Helen Bradley, who has helped make it all possible. Helen has worked tirelessly to meet and greet, spread the word on Facebook and share her wonderful recipes.

“And of course, a heartfelt thank-you to all our customers, who have shopped week in week out with us to make it a success.”

The Halifax Food Assembly was the first one to be launched in Yorkshire.

The imitative made it easy for customers to buy their food locally and to support local farmers, growers and artisans by offering an online market and a weekly collection in Skircoat Green.
