To mark the half-a-century tradition, walkers are invited to go back to basics - and walk the original 30-mile length. Walkers, who are invited to wear something gold to mark the occasion can walk 30 or 15-miles in the overnight sponsored walk on April 5, from 10pm - departing from YMCA, Crossley Street, Halifax - on a circular route through Calderdale.

Since 1966, the Halifax Long March has raised more than £380,000 for Christian Aid’s work - and over the years, walkers have walked an incredible 23-million miles.
