Happy Valley awarded Best New Drama at TV Choice Awards

Sally Wainwright’s BBC One drama series won the Best New Drama at the TV Choice Award, while lead actress Sarah Lancashire was named Best Actress for her role in the hit TV show.

The show, centred around the Calderdale towns Sowerby Bridge and Hebden Bridge, aired on TV for the first time this year saw 6.2 million viewers tune in for the finale.

The second series will air on TV in 2015.

Yorkshire’s very own Educating Yorkshire was named Best Factual Entertainment and Lifestyle show at the awards.

EastEnders also came out on top after picking up a number of gongs for Lindsey Coulson and Danny Dyer - winning Best Soap Actor and Actress respectively.
