£3.8m unit at hospital

A NEW £3.8m endoscopy unit has opened at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Around 6,500 procedures a year will be carried out at the new state-of-the-art unit which also has a £2.8m sister unit at Calderdale Royal Hospital which opened in January.

Consultant gastro-enterologist Dr George Sobala said: “I am extremely proud of the new unit which has been designed around our patients and their needs.

“The team has worked to bring this state-of-the-art unit into existence and I look forward to working there for many years.”
