THE Courier’s funding appeal for the Calderdale Marie Curie nurses now stands at £66,000.

Generous readers have been donating cash to help reach the campaign’s target of £80,000 to fund the nurses who care for the terminally-ill in Calderdale.

The charity’s Daffodil Appeal also netted money for the campaign – with a total of £4,365 raised throughout Calderdale.

A collection at Tesco in Brighouse alone raised £1,331 through the sale of the silk daffodils.

The Calderdale Marie Curie team has never been busier. Last year they provided more than 3,479 hours of nursing, costing £45,383.

The charity needs readers’ help so the nurses can continue the care as the demand for their services continues to rise.

To make a donation, visit www.mariecurie.org.uk/appeal or send a cheque payable to Marie Curie Cancer Care, indicating it is for the Calderdale Nursing Appeal, to the Fund-raising Office, Maudsley Street, Bradford, BD3 9LE.

Alternatively, contact local fund-raisers Tracy Calcraft or Brenda Doyle on 01274 337034 or email tracy.calcraft@mariecurie.org.uk or brendadoyle@mariecurie.org.uk.
