Charity gives a bit of Mum Time

Help is at hand for mums struggling to cope with the day-to-day demands of babies or young children.

A series of informal sessions called Mum Time has been organised by Calderdale mental health charity Healthy Minds and will take place at the WomenCentre in Halifax.

Support worker Dianne Darby said: “Many parents are all too aware of that feeling that comes with caring for young children of never having a moment to yourself and how it can sometimes be overwhelming coping with the demands of parenthood. These sessions are an opportunity for mums struggling with the day to day demands of babies and very young children, to come together and have some time for themselves.”

Topics covered on the course include coping with tiredness, keeping a healthy diet, finding time for exercise and relaxation. Thy will also look at the myths and facts around baby blues and postnatal depression and how to access support.

A Christmas session will also offer a breather from the hectic preparations and give tips on how to keep calm at what can be a stressful time of year.

Dianne added: “Most importantly it’s an opportunity to chat with other mums and have a cuppa and take some time out. We’re hoping these sessions provide a bit of support for women finding it difficult to cope and need a bit space to think about themselves.”

Kidspace Mobile Creche will provide childcare for those attending the sessions, but get in touch a book a place. The Mum Time sessions will be at the WomenCentre from 1 – 2.30pm on the first and third Wednesday of the month up until Christmas. For more information and to book contact Dianne on 01422 438722.
