A consultant who specialises in the care of diabetic patients will be offering advice and talking about advancements in medical care at two events.
Diabetes - linked to weight and age - is an area where hospitals are seeing rising numbers of patients and rapid changes in the way they are cared for.
Dr Rob Moisey, a specialist in the condition which affects approximately 26,000 patients in the Calderdale and Kirklees areas, will talking at a Medicines for Members (M4M) event.
It takes place at Calderdale Royal Hospital, lecture theatre, 5.30pm for 6 pm on Monday, November 19.
The talk will be mainly about type 2 diabetes but will cover type 1 as well.
Dr Moisey said: “The financial and health costs of diabetes, to both the patient, their families and the healthcare community is increasing. Whilst over the last few years we have seen significant improvements in the treatments available we must also work to reduce the number of people who develop the disease.”
It is part of the Medicines 4 Members (M4M) series which aim to give members of the public an insight into how healthcare works locally. M4M are open to all existing members of the Trust and for anyone who would be interested in becoming a member to sign up on the night.
