Famous Sowerby Bridge geese killed in reported dog attack

Residents in Sowerby Bridge are mourning the loss of three of its famous geese after they were reportedly attacked by dogs.

Witnesses said that the gaggle was attacked by two small dogs at around 7:20am on Monday July 2 .

Two geese were killed during the incident and another, one of three that were seriously injured, died of its injuries.

A staff member at the Loose Goose Pub, who cared for the geese said:

“It’s not nice. They’re a big part of Sowerby Bridge life, there’s been a lot of upset in the community and on social media.”

The police and RSPCA have been informed of the attack.
