Two men are swapping the comfort of their office for a demanding physical challenge to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Ashley Ambler, 27, of Shelf, and Rob Junk, 35, of Boothtown, Halifax, will attempt the Winter Tough Guy Challenge on Sunday.

It comprises a gruelling 10k run through mud and obstacles and “The Killing Fields” assault course with over 100 obstacles including barbed wire and running through nettles.

“It’s going to be tortuous and take about three hours to complete,” said Ashley.

“We have been training for a few months but it’s hard to replicate the course - we have been blessed with the snow this week.”

Both men run Sub-Lime Business Solutions, Dean Clough, Halifax, and have been running outdoors and through the stream in Shelf Hall Park.

“I’m sure we look a little crazy for the people walking their dogs,” said Ashley.

They hope to raise £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support as they have both experienced the support the charity gives to families.
