Members of the Labour party and UNISON will be joined by hundreds of angry residents this Saturday in a protest march through Halifax to send a clear message to health chiefs - hands off our A&E.
The ongoing protests are in response to a report by health chiefs suggesting Halifax hospital could lose its accident and emergency ward.
The closure was put forward as a prefered option by the Calderdale and Greater Huddersfield Health and Social Care Strategic Review from a list of five proposals.
The preferred option would see Huddersfield Royal Infirmary provide around-the-clock A&E while Calderdale could lose its emergency unit.
The march will set off from Halifax Town Hall at 11am on Saturday May 3 and follow a route to Calderdale Royal Hospital.
The march will be followed by speakers at Manor Heath including Halifax Labour MP Linda Riordan, Calderdale Council’s Labour leader Tim Swift and Calder Valley Labour PPC Josh Fenton Glynn.
