CALDERDALE Council is one of the best in the country at helping vulnerable people, according to a review of health and social care services.
The Care Quality Commission looked at 150 councils to see how easy it was to get through to the right person and get the right help.
It looked at whether callers were given the opportunity to fully explain their circumstances and the provision of advice and support, including re-directing callers to other organisations where appropriate.
Calderdale came 14th and received a rating of “Best Performing”.
About 2,500 people needing health and social care services in Calderdale contact the council’s Gateway to Care team every month and most have their problems resolved without needing to call again.
Council Bob Metcalfe (Lab, Town) said: “The commission’s findings confirm the council is making it easy for people who need health and social care services to get the right sort of help quickly.”
Gateway manager Karen Maude said she was pleased for the team and for those they help.
