SMOKERS across the county have been urged to kick the habit after the world marked No Tobacco Day.
Tuesday was World No Tabacco Day and now health experts from NHS Yorkshire and the Humber have advised the help on offer for those wanting to quit smoking.
Regional director for public health Paul Johnstone said: “If you are a smoker, giving up is the single most important thing you can do for your health.
“We know it can be difficult but we also know people achieve this every day.
“NHS stop smoking services do excellent work in assisting people in quitting smoking.
“Between October and December last year, 8,180 people successfully kicked the habit with the help of NHS services.
“Statistics show that people are four times more likely to quit for good if they use an NHS stop-smoking service.”
