The National Health Service is calling on Calderdale men and women to give blood.
On Wednesday November 20, Northbridge Leisure Centre, Halifax, will open its doors to donors of various blood types.
Donors can book an appointment or simply call in to the leisure centre between 2.30pm - 4pm and then again from 5pm - 7.30pm.
The process should take no longer than one hour. One donation can potentially save the lives of three people.
Donated bloody is not only used in accident and emergency situations but also for patients undergoing surgery and receiving treatment for cancer and other blood diseases.
Donna Batty, lead donor relations manager at NHS Blood and Transplant said: “If you can free up some time in your busy schedule to help those who vitally need a blood transfusion then please come along to a session.
“In Halifax there are regular donor sessions held at the Northbridge Leisure Centre so residents should be able to get to one of these at a time convenient for them. By donating blood you can help us keep the stock levels stable as we approach the colder months.”
Fist time donors should be aged between 17-65, weighing at least 50kg (seven stone 12 pounds) and in general good health.
