Yorks has ‘least’ skin cancer fears

A NEW survey has revealed a third of children in Yorkshire have suffered sunburn.

Residents in Yorkshire were also the least worried about skin cancer, compared with other UK regions, with one in five believing the risks are exaggerated.

More than a third of also admitting to having been burned more than five times, and nearly 15 per cent more than 10 times. The survey - by MoletestUK.com, a website offering skin cancer and mole advice - also found a fifth of residents had a suspicious mole and half of these had not sought advice.

Malignant melanoma is one of the commonest but most preventable types of cancer if detected early.
