Steve Chalke, founder of Christian campaigning group Faithworks, is hosting a series of seminars across the country including two at The King’s Centre on Park Road on Wednesday, February 23.

Entitled The Big Response, the aim will be to help churches and people understand how they can engage in the Big Society plans.

Mr Chalke said: “The Big Response is about making Big Society happen at a local level.

“Our seminars around the country over the next few months will give churches practical advice to help them plan their own response.”

Paul Blakey, founder of the Street Angels and organiser of the Halifax events, said: “Week in, week out, the church in Calderdale is investing hundreds of hours in local communities.”

The seminars will take place from 10.30am until 4.15pm, at a cost of £5, and from 7.30pm until 9.30pm at a cost of £3. People are being asked to book in advance by visiting
