The crew managed to dig a trench so they could pull the horse to safety.

Specialist crews from Cleckheaton also attended.

Watch manager Nigel Dodd from Brighouse Fire Station said their main concern was keeping the young lad calm. “It was a successful outcome and we managed to get the horse to safety. A vet was called and with the assistance of an A-frame we managed to get the horse to stand up. I believe the horse is now doing fine.”

The crew was at the scene until 9.15pm.
