The number of parents getting into their first choice of primary school has increased in the majority of education authority areas.
Tens of thousands of four-year-old children have been allocated places for starting their reception year in September.
Initial figures from councils across Yorkshire suggest more people have been able to secure places at their first choice of school compared with 12 months ago.
Across Yorkshire the vast majority of parents were allocated their first choice.
Wakefield saw 92 per cent of applicants getting into their first choice school, Kirklees 90.2 per cent and Leeds 87 per cent.
Calderdale saw a decline in successful applicants this year, at 88.4 per cent.
Bradford also saw an increase in the numbers of pupils being placed into their first choice of primary school.
