Hub helps Hebden Bridge

Hebden Bridge Town Hall is delighted to be working with Calderdale Clinical Commissioning Group and Calderdale Council as the local Staying Well Hub for the Hebden Bridge area.

People who lead active social lives are a happy bunch, who often see health improvements.

There are plenty of groups you can get involved with and people who can offer a hand to find the right thing for you.

The Hebden Bridge Staying Well Hub is working with lots of people, community groups and businesses to develop new activities all over the upper Calder valley so there’s sure to be something nearby for you to try.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be showcasing some of the great activities that are going on in your area from film and culture, art classes, lunch clubs, computer training, coach trips, social groups, pilates classes, singing groups and lots of other things too.

You could be having lunch out with a great group of people, with lots to chat about and chances are you’ll already know some of them.

It’s a great way to meet friends old and new and have a delicious meal without having to worry about the washing up.

Heptonstall Village Team host twice monthly Lunch Clubs held alternately at The Cross Inn in Heptonstall and the Shoulder of Mutton in Mytholmroyd. The next one will be on Tuesday, August 11 at The Cross Inn from noon.

Why not join us for a two course lunch and some good company? Everyone is welcome - there is a charge to cover the cost of your meal, but transport can be provided free of charge for anyone that needs it.

Ann Blackburn, from Heptonstall, said: “Despite living in Heptonstall all my life, I had lost contact with a lot of people.

“Attending the lunches at The Cross Inn Heptonstall and The shoulder of Mutton in Mytholmroyd is the highlight of the week, the food is great and I look forwards to meeting up with my old school friends of 40 years ago.”

Brenda Greenwood, another regular said “It’s marvellous what the Heptonstall Village Team are doing for us.

“I look forward to the lunches, as it is a chance to get out of the house and mix with people.”

There are plenty of other places to try as well, Wadsworth Lunch Club meet every Wednesday from noon at Wadsworth Community Centre. There’s a delicious home cooked, two course meal and always lots of interesting conversation going on.

Luddendenfoot Civic Institute hold a Community Café on the first and third Friday of the month, from noon. There’s fabulous home cooked food and usually a speaker or activity as well.

In Mytholmroyd, The Good Shepherd Centre run a lunch club every Wednesday from 1pm and the Mytholmroyd Lunch Club meet at St Michael’s Church, every Friday at 11.45am.

Why don’t you brighten up your lunch times and try one of your local lunch clubs, where there’s good food and good company guaranteed.

All lunch clubs make a small charge to cover the cost of meals.
