'˜Hurricane Hannah' Cockroft's neighbours trim up street in honour of star Paralympian

Hannah Cockroft received a big welcome home as her neighbours trimmed up their street in honour of the her success in Rio.

The 24-year-old wheelchair racer, from Mount Tabor, secured an incredible three gold medals in the Paralympic Games, smashing the world record in the 400m T34.

She will fly the flag for Halifax in a ‘Rio Heroes’ homecoming parade in Leeds on Wednesday.

And plans for a Calderdale celebration are also in the pipeline, the council has confirmed.
