IN PICTURES: Stunning gallery shows the world what the Piece Hall can do

The Piece Hall was the star of the show during the final stage of this year's Tour de Yorkshire with thousands gathering at the historic landmark to see the race depart.

The recently restored site played host to the start of the fourth stage of the cycling event and Nicky Chance-Thompson, chief executive of the Piece Hall Trust, thinks that it was a chance to show the world just what the venue can do.

READ: Halifax in the spotlight after record breaking support for Tour de YorkshireThe race started at the Grade I listed Piece Hall where it was waved off by Halifax residents and many visitors. Riders left the Piece Hall at midday and headed out of the town towards Hebden Bridge on Burnley Road.

The course through Calderdale was mainly downhill but riders had to tackle to infamous Cote de Hebden Bridge up to Pecket Well, the first of the days categorised climbs.
