The New Mytholmroyd Gala saw huge success at the weekend as thousands gathered together for the relaunch of the event.
Last year a brand new team took up the challenge of reinventing the Gala and after a day of fun in the sunshine the community has given the event its seal of approval.
“It was absolutely fantastic, said committee chair, Barnaby Neale. “We were blown away by the support.
“Everyone was really keen to support it. People didn’t want a funfair so we had charity stalls and lots of smaller games, not just tombolas, and made sure there was something for everyone.
“There was live music at both ends of field for people to enjoy and the children were dancing to it.
“It was incredibly successful.”
There was also zorbing, face painting and tasty treats for people to enjoy on the day.
The gala committee consists of Chair Barnaby Neale, Vice Chair Councillor Scott Patient and Secretary Kim Whymark who were helped on the day by a host of volunteers including some Mytholmroyd Flood Wardens.
Barnaby said: “Mytholmroyd has had a tough time with the roadworks and the flood improvements and this was a chance for the community to let their hair down.”
